How it all began... Our first handmade platform bed frame created from barn wood...

July 15, 2017 - We wanted to share the background info. on our new creation with barn wood, made with combined effort and loads of love for our older daughter.

Everything has a story….
It is something we’ve wanted to do for awhile but we didn’t have any access to barn wood (and we were also hoping to not have to purchase it from our own pockets).

We recently moved and our middle son outgrew his bunk bed. We sold his bed and Janelle handed down her bed to him. She never had a bed frame and wanted one made from barn wood.

The father of our three older children moved back to the Coronation area and we mentioned this to him, and he instantly provided an area where an old barn had fallen down. On one of the kid's trips to visit their dad (of many more to come), the kids, niece and wife, helped pick out pieces of barn wood, carefully watching where they stepped for the risk of nails in the foot, kept an eye out for the bull and cow in the same field and loaded them in the back of our suv.

Upon getting the wood back to our home, we sorted it, took out all the old nails, scrapped the manure off of many (they are very authentic) and piled in sizes. Then Janelle picked out the boards she wanted for her headboard, with my help.

Together we painted, cut, nailed, varnished and put together the frame and headboard. In two days, the vision was created and completed, but its taken months to get there.

We feel it’s such a significant story on working together and without the efforts and support of Brandi's ex-husband (which they never used to even communicate) is a huge step and we’ve come such a long ways over the years.

Then I was the guy on this end ensuring it was built. There are no limits to what we can create.

Now our daughter has a very unique bed frame to last a lifetime, which she was hands on creating and both her dad’s in her life made it possible…and a little help from mom. 💕

Updated * Following this story, Brandi's three older children lost their father, Chub (Charles) Bedson, tragically in a vehicle accident on August 3, 2017. We are forever grateful for his initial involvement starting our business and feel he continues to be apart of the process...something beautiful was created from such a sad event.
